Inside the world’s biggest Primark

So Yesterday the world’s biggest Primark opened, and I’m still shook!

The store was so big I felt like I was in a department store. It has four floors, a beauty salon, eateries, a Disney cafe and so much more.

The store embraces the city of Birmingham and being a fellow Brummie myself I felt very welcome.

When you first walk into the shop there is a real buzz about the place, maybe that’s because they have their own DJ playing Drake and some old school Ashanti.

There are also bright lights around that say ‘hello Brum’ as well as I love Birmingham bag, as and other Brummie merchandise.

There’s even a signpost in the middle of the shop for if you get lost, which admittedly I did. Oops!

The store is certainly different from the last one on New Street, definitely better!

I couldn’t believe how big the store was, it’s unlike anything I’ve seen before!

It even had a large range of products from leisure, home, stationery, lingerie, smart-wear, and beauty.

The makeup section was unreal!

There range of lipsticks was insane, I managed to pick up a few nude lipsticks for 90p! DAMN GIRL!

Ok, the matte lipsticks were £1.50, but they’re still a good price.

I even managed to pick up a cute pair of Minnie Mouse eyelashes in the style MAGICAL for only £2. Bargain.

The beauty section itself was huge, there’s even a stand with a range of beauty brands as well as Alex Steinherr’s skin care collection.

If that wasn’t enough there’s even a whole wall dedicated to false eyelashes.

There’s also a section for all of the little things you need in your makeup bag, i.e. makeup wipes, lash curlers, moisturisers, tweezers, face masks and cotton pads. Perfect for the holiday season, we need all of our beauty essentials when we’re on holiday. The last thing we need is to run out of makeup wipes while we’re away.

The Disney cafe was really cute, although there was quite a long queue.

Are we surprised though?

It is so amazing when you look into the cafe, you walk through huge Mickey Mouse ears to get into the cafe and there’s so much there!

There’s a gaming area, photos of Mickey and Minnie and plenty of selfie walls.

They serve different types of food, as well as milkshakes, pancakes, waffles, fruit. They’re even shaped like Mickey Mouse.

This post is making me hungry just thinking about it!

If you haven’t already been to the world’s biggest Primark in Birmingham then you need to go!

It is so big inside so you will need to take your time when shopping in there, I still feel like I’ve missed so much and need to go back!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading my post, please let me know what you think!

And don’t forget to like and follow my blog and my Instagram.

Worlds biggest Primark opening in a week

The countdown to the world’s biggest Primark opening is almost over!

The new Primark will be opening in a week and replacing the old store on New Street with a new, bigger updated version.

Birmingham’s new Primark will have five floors, making it quadruple the size of the current store.

The store will also have its own beauty studio for nails, make-up, hair, lashes and eyebrows.

It will also have a barber, a personalisation service, as well as three “unique and amazing dining experiences”.

Primark has revealed that there will be a Disney cafe in the new Birmingham store.

Sounds like Disney world is coming to the UK, maybe you’ll be able to have dinner with some of the Disney characters like in Orlando.

Reports suggest that it will be the only licensed Disney eatery outside of its resorts and cruise ships.

I’m thinking Mickey and Minnie Mouse themed food, Disney songs on 24/7, staff dressed as characters, Mrs Potts and Chip teacups with macaroons. So cute!

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also going to be ‘recharge’ seating areas to relax in as well as free wi-fi.

We have been told to expect other surprises that will be revealed on the opening day on April 11th.

Birmingham’s new store will also feature what Primark’s calling its latest “contemporary shop fit” for “enhanced customer experience”.

With the opening day rapidly approaching, excitement and anticipation are rising and the expectations are high.

Payday couldn’t come sooner!

Brummymummyof2: blog survival tips

So today I met the wonderful and talented Emma Conway, or some of you may know her as brummymummyof2.

Emma was asked to visit Birmingham City University to give a speech on her career and to answer any questions from staff and pupils.

As I have just recently started my blog I had a few burning questions to ask her.

Emma was incredibly helpful and it was interesting to hear her story of success.

So, after hearing her tips and tricks of how to make it in the blogging industry, I have compiled 10 easy steps to build a blog and make it sustainable.

Without further ado, here are the survival tips.

1.  Find your niche. It’s important to write about what you are passionate about.

2. Authenticity is key! Always be yourself, no one likes a fake b**ch.

3. Follow trends. Depending on what you are writing about look at what’s popular to keep your viewers interested.

4. F the haters. Don’t be put down from trolls, they’re nothing but keyboard warriors. Focus on the people who are behind you 100%.

5. Don’t worry if it takes a while. Building a following takes time, just keep going!

6. Post regularly. This is incredibly important! Viewers will become bored if you don’t post often.

7. Take pride in your content. Don’t just post for the sake of it, write about something that interests you and your followers.

8. Get to know your followers. It’s important to understand what they like, after all they’re the ones reading it.

9. Don’t let it all go to your head. If your blog does become successful, remember why your followers followed you, as they can’t always handle change.

10. Have fun. It’s your blog, don’t make it feel like a 9-5 job, enjoy what you do and have fun doing it.

So that’s it in a nutshell!

I hope that this survival guide helps, please don’t forget to follow myself and Emma on Instagram!

Blog, meet Blue.

Sorry, I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve had a lot of work and deadlines for uni, so it’s been very stressful.

Anyways, new year new you!

So I decided to make my first post of 2019 about the new addition to the family, and no it’s not a baby, aha!

This is Blue.

She is a 3-month old Shar-pei and is my sister’s little pup.

She was bought round ours the first time on Christmas day, and was just so adorable!

Blue is so cute, and great to have around, and over the next few days, I will be watching her whilst there’s no-one at home.

It is tiresome watching a little pup, but it’s also very rewarding.

She’s only recently had all of her vaccinations so going outside is difficult at the moment.

I tried taking her out for a quick walk but I had to carry her for most of it.

Perhaps next time I should bribe her with some treats, that might get her paws moving!

I imagine that a lot of you have never heard of the breed before because before we had our Shar-pei (Nala), I’d never even seen one before.

They are quite unique when you first look at them, as it looks like they need ironing!

But, they are very loyal dogs and enjoy people’s company.

I would advise getting them used to being around other dogs at an early age.

This is Nala, my beautiful Shar-Pei.

She’s 8 years old, and like Blue, is a joy to have around.

Nala’s tricks are: sit, paw, high five, lie down, and high ten. But she only does tricks for treats, her favourite is Pedigree Schmacos.

Blue herself is a typical Shar-pei, easy to train, she already knows; sit, high-five, paw and lie down.

She loves her little dinosaur toys, Sara three-horn and Little foot (shout out to all of the 90’s kids who watched the Land before time)

Blue also enjoys her blue and light-up ball.

She is really intrigued by my dog Nala, but I don’t think the feeling is mutual.

Blue can be quite jumpy and playful around Nala but as she is now 8, Nala wants to chill out and not be hassled by a pup.

Sorry, Blue looks like you don’t have a playmate. Aww!

Still, she tries to get along with Nala, but somehow I don’t think eating her food and stealing her bed is going to help.

She is quite the little fashionista, she has a cute blue matching harness and lead and a little tartan coat.

It is quite cold at the moment, so if we go on a long walk she needs to wear her coat otherwise she starts to shiver, bless.

The Great Birmingham Bark Off

So last week, Halloween to be precise. I decided to raise money for a local charity that I care about.

The Birmingham dog’s home has recently moved location following a terrific fire in 2013 that burned down the entire building.

I decided to make the bake sale Halloween themed.

The bake sale was during one of my lectures at Birmingham City University, at a reasonable price for staff and students.

My cupcakes were chocolate and vanilla sponge, with orange and green frosting with Haribo Halloween sweets on and handmade spiders made out of black icing.

There was also rocky road, which was really easy to make, as it contains: chocolate, digestive biscuits, marshmallows, glazed cherries, and popcorn.

Although, the favourite thing from the bake sale was my chocolate chip cookies.

They were really easy to make as there aren’t many ingredients required, and they take roughly 7-9 minutes to bake.

I really enjoyed doing the bake sale as I received good feedback from it and I loved baking everything, and of course, it’s for a great cause.

Please feel free to visit the Birmingham dog’s home website to find out more about what they do and how you can get involved with any fundraising.

Also if you would like to learn how I bake my homemade cookies please comment and I’ll post on my blog the simple but very tasty cookie recipe!

I can also upload my easy rocky road recipe as well!

21 in New York

New Yoooork, concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there’s nothing you can’t do now you’re in New York.

Firstly, let me just say how excited I am to write my first post on my blog!

At first I struggled thinking what to write about, and then decided to write about the most amazing trip ever, it certainly lived up to it’s expectations.

We flew out from Manchester to JFK airport with Thomas Cook, that is a different story entirely!

I’ll write a separate post on flying long hall with Thomas Cook.

I clearly remember sitting in the shuttle bus driving towards NYC anticipating what the city would be like, and then suddenly the skyline of the city appeared, it was truly breathtaking!

When we were driving through NYC it was like being a movie, yellow cabs everywhere, food stalls on every avenue, Louis Vuitton, Macy’s, Saks, Tiffany’s, and of course Times Square.

After the long journey from Manchester airport to JFK I was exhausted and couldn’t wait to check into the hotel.

I stayed in the Millennium broadway, It was better than I thought it would be!

We were upgraded to the superior room on the 49th floor as it was for my birthday.

The room was very spacious and clean, and had lovely view of NYC, and the hotel was just round the corner from Times Square, and right next to Sephora, PERFECT!

The first day in New York I got a coach out of the city to New Jersey to visit Woodbury Common outlet centre.

I couldn’t believe how amazing it was.

I thought Bicester village was good.

It was nothing on Woodbury.

There were sales everywhere!

When dropped off at Woodbury Common, you are greeted at the reception with a map.

For a short time only when I was there you could donate $10 to a cancer charity and receive 25% off one item in the shops participating.

My arms were completely full of shopping bags.

The discounts were insane.

I bought a pair of ice white Timberland boots that cost usually £160 on Missguided, but I got them for $75. Bargain!

I also got amazing clothes, shoes and more from: Tommy Hilfiger, Hunter, Calvin Klein, Puma, Ralph Lauren, Yankee Candle, MAC cosmetics and more!

I would 100% recommend to anyone visiting New York to go to Woodbury Common, as it’s a lot cheaper than buying from NYC.

As I booked the trip because it was my birthday, I had an amazing time celebrating my 21st in the big apple.

I started my birthday on 30th April, waking up to my hotel room full of balloons and banners saying happy birthday.

I’d never spent my birthday abroad so it was an amazing feeling waking up somewhere new to celebrate the day, considering most girls my age spend their birthday out in town and forgetting most of the night.

I had breakfast in the hotel, which was lovely are there was a small range to choose from, including: cereals, fresh fruit and pastries.

Later on I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday on this Spirit Cruise.

It was raining slightly, and I was worried my hair would flat or my makeup would get ruined!

Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait long, PHEW!!

We were greeted by our waitress for the night, Julianna who bought us our complimentary glass of wine.

It had lovely cocktails on board, amazing DJ, and really tasty food.

Especially as I’m a really picky eater, and was worried I wouldn’t like the food, but I did enjoy the meal on the boat.

We had purchased a table by the window, the view was breathtaking!

The table by the window was at an extra cost, however I thought it was worth it, especially at night when New York came alive.

The service onboard was outstanding, our waitress was Julianna and she was amazing, we certainly felt pampered whilst on the spirit cruise.

The boat was surprisingly spacious, and decorated very modern.

The DJ played a range of music, as well as any requested… so obviously I made sure to request some.

As the music was so good me and mum managed to get some of the people on board up and dancing, including a young couple celebrating their anniversary!

As we were lively and fun, the bar staff gave us free champagne and shots for being the most entertaining on board. YES!!!!

Overall I had an amazing birthday, and I don’t think I could have celebrated any where better than on the spirit cruise in NYC.

At the end of the night I was given a free dessert as well as a large punch bowl glass with Spirit Cruise written on the front.

I would love to go again, as I loved every minute of it!

I’d definitely 100% recommend going on the spirit cruise, especially for a birthday or celebration.

And a little shout out to Nicki (mum) who payed for the cruise and everything on my birthday.

Best birthday ever!

The last day of being in New York we visited the statue of liberty and 9/11 memorial.

It was a lovely day and was a beautiful memorial.

Each year on everyone’s birthday the staff at the memorial place a white rose on the persons name, so their birthday will be remembered and celebrated, and never forgotten.

The trip was very hectic, the city certainly did not sleep! But it was a trip to remember, and I had a great time celebrating my 21st.

I would love to go back to NYC, especially at Christmas time!

Hope this has helped anyone planning on going to NYC.

I would definitely recommend the Millennium Broadway to stay in.

Thank you so much for reading my first ever blog post.

Don’t forget to follow my blog to keep updated on when I post!
